    Virtual Workshops

    In order to offer my workshops to a more broad geographical audience, we are going back to Zoom!!  Classes will be very limited in size to make sure we have plenty of time for guided feedback and Q&A. Beginner Thursday, February 5, 2026; 5 PM - 8 PM PST In this course you will learn the basics of pointed pen calligraphy.  How to use the tools, how to troubleshoot, and a basic lowercase script.  It will run approximately 3 hours. Finding Your Own Style Tuesday, March 3; 5PM - 7 PM PST We will go through a series of exercises to work on tweaking, expanding, and changing a calligraphy style that you are used to using, with the goal of finding a completely new style that is unique and can become a signature for you. Brush Lettering Not offered at this time Learn the basics of brush lettering in this workshop.  We will use a variety of brushes and learn to letter in both a proper script and also a more stylized one. Envelopes Not offered at this time Learn my tricks and tips to letter the most creative, beautiful envelopes.  I will be sharing some of my best secrets and most popular layouts, and there will be lots of time for questions and personal feedback. Capital Letters Not offered at this time Since we never have much time to devote to capital letters in Beginner workshops, this workshop will focus specifically on them.  We will go through different options for script caps, including some of the main flourishes you can use for caps, and even discuss how to develop your own. Details
    • After the instruction in all workshops, we will have some time for an "Ask Me Anything."
    • About 10 days before the class, you will receive a Zoom link, a handout, and suggested supplies list with a link to order.
    • You can sign up for individual workshops or for a bundle.

    Block Lettering Tutorial (Download)

    I have been asked more times than I can count to create a class teaching my block lettering, and I could never figure out how to teach it.  It involves a lot of practice and repetition to get such a distinct and precise style into your muscle memory.  But I finally realized exactly what I needed to do to teach it! We created this extensive workbook so you could practice, and then print out again and practice again, and again.  It comes with a video explaining how to use the workbook, along with some tricks and tips, and of course, a (very abbreviated) supply list, but you can really use any tools/pens/pencils you'd like.  I'm so excited for you to try it!     Envelope Template Liners

    Years ago, I started making calligraphy envelope liners out of cardboard with an exacto knife, to write in straight lines on dark envelopes without having to make pencil marks. They never lasted long because they would rip, or get wet from ink and distort. About 6 years ago, I decided to have them professionally made out of plastic, and they have proven to be a huge time saver. I'm now offering them for others to use. A must-have for every calligrapher. Included are two different sizes that you an use on any size envelope.
