Many of our kids will not be going to camp, won't be having pool parties, and may be playing video games (or watching TV) for a few too many hours. I have been wanting to add kid's workshops for way too long and I decided that this is finally the time to do it. And over Zoom I can teach kids from anywhere in the world! I actually learned calligraphy at 9 years old, and it obviously was a very useful skill for me to learn.  Kids tend to love calligraphy and wind up getting lost in the relaxing rhythm of lettering, which is something I think we, as parents, could all really benefit from right about now. "Camp" will consist of 2 sessions, 1 1/2 hours each.  We will spend the first session learning with Crayola markers, which is a great way to introduce the mechanism of the pointed pen, and in the second session we will move on to real pens.  And, there will be homework in between! THREE CAMP SESSIONS!  1 - Tuesdays, June 30 and July 7 at 3:30 PM PST (SOLD OUT) 2 - Fridays, July 17 and 24 at 1 PM PST (SOLD OUT) 3 - Tuesdays, July 21 and 28 at 10:30 AM PST (SOLD OUT) 4 - Thursdays, July 30 and August 6 at 1 PM PST (SOLD OUT) Details - About 10 days before the class, you will receive a Zoom link, a handout, and a suggested supplies list with ordering links. Supplies will cost a little over $20 if you choose to buy all of them. - This is for kids ages 10 - 15 (if your child is close to this range and you think this would be appropriate for them, they are welcome to join) - Classes will be very limited in size to make sure we have plenty of time for guided feedback and Q&A.

    Virtual Workshops

    $50$140
During this unprecedented time, some of you are finding yourselves with more time on your hands to learn a new skill (or to further your skill) and some of you are looking to connect to a community and partake in something relaxing and creative. I have decided to offer my comprehensive Beginner Pointed Pen workshop and also a variety of shorter workshops, conducted over Zoom.  Classes will be very limited in size to make sure we have plenty of time for guided feedback and Q&A. Beginner 3 sessions May 17 at 10 AM - 1:30 PM PST May 23 at 2 - 5:30 PM PST June 9 at 2 - 5:30 PM PST In this course you will learn the basics of pointed pen calligraphy.  How to use the tools, how to troubleshoot, and a basic lowercase script.  It will run approximately 3.5 hours including a little bit of a break. Finding Your Own Style 2 sessions May 13 at 3 - 5 PM PST June 27 at 10 AM to 12 PM PST We will go through a series of exercises to work on tweaking, expanding, and changing a calligraphy style that you are used to using, with the goal of finding a completely new style that is unique and can become a signature for you. Brush Lettering June 6 at 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM PST  Learn the basics of brush lettering in this workshop.  We will use a variety of brushes and learn to letter in both a proper script and also a more stylized one. Capital Letters June 13 at 2 - 4 PM PST Since we never have much time to devote to capital letters in Beginner workshops, this workshop will focus specifically on them.  We will go through different options for script caps, including some of the main flourishes you can use for caps, and even discuss how to develop your own. Details
    • After the instruction in all workshops, we will have some time for an "Ask Me Anything."

  • A few years ago, I lettered all of a bride's bridesmaids' names and she ordered some jewelry trays to give them as gifts. A photo of the trays ran in Martha Stewart Weddings, and since then, I have been asked dozens of times for the same trays. But the store the bride ordered them from no longer exists, and I have been searching high and low for a way to replicate them. I finally figured it out! These obviously make perfect bridesmaid's gifts, but they could also be a little gift for yourself!

    - Ceramic trays measure 5 x 5
    - Custom lettered
    - Not food or dishwasher safe
    - Tell us the name(s) you want in the next form

That's what sparked the idea for this Mother's Day card. So send one of these to your own mom, send a bunch to your mama friends, who did/are doing it so well and who inspire you to be the wonderful mama that you are. Because mothers are the true heroes of the world, right? - Single or in a set of 4, with blank white square flap envelopes - Savoy cotton paper for card and envelope - A2 size (4.25" x 5.5") - folded card - Printed locally

  • I have been toying with the idea of designing a calendar for years, but this year, when I realized it was going to be TWENTY TWENTY (and I loved the idea of writing that out in calligraphy) I knew I had to do it.  (I still sometimes write 1996 on my checks though, so there is absolutely no way I'm going to remember to write out 2020 in real life.)  Anyway, I have been fascinated with these abstract, flowy watercolors lately, so I decided to make them backgrounds for each month, and I also thought it would be fun to include a whole bunch of "Instagram holidays," since I've never seen that before, and because sometimes it would be nice to be reminded so that I can post appropriately.  I really only included the ones that I thought were fun and appropriate through.  Maybe I just made the calendar for myself.  Who knows?!?

     - 8 x 10
    - 12 tear off month pages and 1 cover page, backed with cardboard
    - Printed on 100 lb cotton stock
    - Locally made
    - Binder clip not included

  • My workshops are always set up a little differently than most other workshops being offered now. I’ve found that in a 3 hour class we just can't cover it all, so I like to offer this longer and more comprehensive format. The workshop will be 4 hours (10 am - 2 pm) and include brunch/snacks/drinks/probably donuts!! In the Beginner Workshop we learn the basics of pointed pen calligraphy. In the Intermediate Workshop we refine the basics a bit, work on developing our own style, learn some brush lettering, and work with white ink and color!  The only prerequisite for the intermediate class is knowing how to use the pointed pen, so if you sign up for the Saturday beginner class, you will be ready to roll right into Sunday. These are always such fun days and would be perfect for a birthday get-together, a bachelorette party activity, a girl's day out, or just a unique thing to do!

  • Years ago, I started making calligraphy envelope liners out of cardboard with an exacto knife, to write in straight lines on dark envelopes without having to make pencil marks. They never lasted long because they would rip, or get wet from ink and distort. About 6 years ago, I decided to have them professionally made out of plastic, and they have proven to be a huge time saver. I'm now offering them for others to use. A must-have for every calligrapher. Included are two different sizes that you an use on any size envelope. - Set of 2 - Ultra-thin plastic - Made locally

  • Amber Moon Design and I (together we're Robin Moon!) decided we needed to do something about the political situation in the US right now.  We were looking for a way to raise money for Planned Parenthood and when this "Nevertheless, she persisted" meme started, we thought that was the perfect thing to put on a woman's tee.  This Alternative Apparel t-shirt is super soft, loose fitting, and luxurious.  And the message is actually embroidered (!!!) with calligraphy.
